Performing Umrah is a deeply spiritual milestone, and living in the UAE puts you just a short flight away from the Holy Cities. Direct flights from Dubai to Jeddah or Madinah take around three and a half hours, making it entirely possible to complete Umrah over a long weekend or take your time with an extended stay. At Royal Vista Travels & Solutions, we help hundreds of families arrange their Umrah journey each year, handling everything from visa processing to hotel bookings metres from Masjid al-Haram.
Umrah Visa Requirements for UAE Residents
Saudi Arabia now issues Umrah visas electronically through approved travel agencies. UAE residents of most nationalities can obtain an Umrah visa within a few working days. You will need a valid passport with at least six months' remaining validity, a recent passport-sized photograph with a white background, proof of UAE residency, and a confirmed Umrah package booking through a licensed operator. Women under 45 travelling without a mahram may need additional documentation depending on nationality.
Choosing the Right Umrah Package
- Economy packages — comfortable 3-star hotels within walking distance of the Haram, group transport and basic guided support
- Standard packages — 4-star hotels with Haram-view rooms available, private airport transfers and a dedicated Umrah guide
- Premium packages — 5-star hotels directly adjacent to the Haram such as Pullman ZamZam or Swissôtel, VIP transfers and personalised itinerary
- Family packages — interconnecting rooms, child-friendly meal plans and flexible schedules for families with young children
- Ramadan packages — special arrangements for the blessed month including Iftar provisions and late-night transport to and from the Haram
Best Time to Perform Umrah
Umrah can be performed at any time of the year except during the days of Hajj. The months of Rajab, Sha'ban and Ramadan are spiritually significant and therefore the busiest — expect larger crowds and higher hotel rates. If you prefer a calmer experience, the months immediately after Hajj season (Muharram to Rabi' al-Awwal) tend to be less crowded and more affordable. The weather in Makkah can be extremely hot from May to September, so cooler months between November and February offer a more comfortable experience.
